BOOK SIGNING

Local First National Leader and Author to Speak in Roslindale

Local First Roslindale is hosting a program featuring Laury Hammel, the co-founder of the Local First movement.  Local First Roslindale is a group of Roslindale businesses committed to the health and vitality of Roslindale, and is a part of the international organization, the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE).  BALLE has grown rapidly in the past few years and now counts almost 60 local networks around North America.

Mr. Hammel's presentation and book signing will be at the Pleasant Café Restaurant in Roslindale on Thursday, June 21 at 7:00 pm.  He will be speaking about his recent book, Growing Local Value, which outlines how local businesses are partnering with their stakeholders to make contributions to their communities.  His book profiles best practices from twenty-five different locally-owned businesses including City Fresh Foods in Dorchester and Roxbury Technology in Jamaica Plain.  He will also make a strong case for why the Local First Roslindale campaign is important to the health of the community and the strength of the local economy.

Mr. Hammel is a Cambridge resident and founder of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Boston and Cambridge Local First.  He is the owner and operator of The Longfellow Clubs in Wayland, Sudbury, Natick, and Franklin, MA.

There is no charge for this event, and everyone is invited to learn about the book, ask questions about Local First, join in some fun and meaningful networking, and purchase his book and have Laury personally sign it.  Please join us as we celebrate at a Local First Roslindale business.

See LocalFirstRoslindale.org for more details. We welcome all to attend this fun and informative event!

The Pleasant Café Restaurant is located at 4515 Washington Street, Roslindale, MA and is prominently featured on our Local First website.
